CONDITIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SONG FESTIVAL

SUNSUELA 2006

(INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION)

 

The founders of The International Song Festival of Eilat – SUNSUELA 2006 (hereinafter the “Founders”), call for a Song Competition, to take place in the City of Eilat, Israel, between the 5th and the 7th of October, 2006, and which shall abide by the following conditions:

1. Objective

The Festival is intended to enhance the development of cultural and artistic relationships and provide a significant and delightful music event for international tourists in the area of Eilat.

2. Invitation

2.1 The Founders invite all international singers from the age of 18 – 30 to participate in the Competition. For the Official Entry Form, please contact us:

2.2 Besides this public and open call, the Founders will invite the participation of internationally famed performers and public figures to bring about a contribution to the Festival and the enhancement of the Competition.

3. Festival schedule
5/10/06 – the first day – the opening of the festival and the competition. The formal assembly and V.I.P cocktail.
6/10/06 – the second day – the first day of the actual festival and the competition - candidates perform a famous Israeli song. (The 1st round).
7/10/06 – the third day – the second day of the festival and the competition – candidates perform an original composition. (The 2nd round).

4. Competition Structure

The Competition consists of two rounds:

The first round: on the night of 6th of October 2006. Each and every one of the performers will perform with a famous Israeli song (either in Hebrew or in a foreign language) in front of the festival audience and the Jury.

The second round: on the night of 7th of October 2006. Each and every one of the performers will perform with the original song chosen (in any chosen language) in front of the festival audience and the Jury.

 

5 Participating Songs

5.1 Original songs (2nd Round)

5.1.1 All songs participating in the 2nd Round of The International Competition shall be original and unpublished. They may only be edited and/or publicly interpreted after the official announcement of their participation is made.

5.1.2       All songs participating in The International Song Festival of Eilat – SUNSUELA 2006 shall be screened pursuant to the following procedure:

a.              Please fill in an application form and Send this form by e-mail or regular mail no later than July 31st 2006.

b.              The Founders are entitled to invite the participation of renowned music professionals and will select up to fifteen (15) songs out of those received (just one per country).

c.Every performer may register up to two (2) songs, but only one (1) of them may be pre-selected.

d.              The songs shall be personally submitted or sent by certified mail to the following address: Sunsuela Ltd., 53 Menachem Begin St., Tel Aviv, ISRAEL 67138   

 

5.1.3       The following must be obligatorily attached during the registration process :

 

a.      An official Entry Form.

b.      A signed declaration which certifies the participant’s full ownership of all the rights relating to his music work.

c.      Three (3) typed copies of the lyrics.

d.      Three (3) photos of the participant in full height along with relevant public relations material and biography. These photos should show the character of the participant as a bright person and performer.

e.      One mini disc and/or compact disc (CD) and video carriers (VHS and/or DVD) with a copy of the master recording of the song, which shall not exceed a duration of four (4) minutes. Please take into account that the production does not return them back at any time.

f.        This recording shall have the necessary artistic and technical features (professional quality and characteristics) that allow the production of a phonogram from the Mini Disc and/or CD referred to above.

 

5.2 Israeli songs (1 round)

5.2.1   The Israeli song (the music and the text) will be sent to the chosen participants not later than 10th of August 2006.

5.2.2   The Israeli song, recorded by the participant, will be sent back to the festival production office not later than the 15th of September 2006 in the abovementioned manner (section 5.1.3.e).

 

6. Stage performance conditions
6.1 The order of presentation of the songs in each of the stages described in Conditions herein shall be established by the Founders or by whomever the latter appoints for such purpose.

6.2 Starting from the first round, candidates must sing their compositions using playbacks -1 (vocals) only on MD audio carrier.

6.3 The recording of an additional voice (back-vocal) is acceptable only in cases that do not duplicate the main voice (a melody line).
6.4 If candidates have invited back-vocalists, the using of additional voice (back-vocal) in instrumental phonogram is forbidden.
6.5 The timekeeping of each song must not exceed four minutes.

7. Juries and Awards

7.1 The Founders will appoint a Jury for the Competition made up of outstanding and renowned personalities from both Israeli and international artistic-musical field, show business, commerce and establishment, to select the winning songs.

7.2  The Jury will use a ten-mark system voting by show of hands, of which entirely conforms to the criteria of international competitions.

      The first round will weigh 30% from the overall score.

      The second round will weigh 70% from the overall score.

 7.3 The winners of the Competition will receive the following awards:

a.      The First premium – the winner diploma and money reward of ten (10) thousand USD.

b.      The Second premium – the winner diploma and money reward of six (6) thousand USD.

c.      The Third premium – the winner diploma and money reward of four (4) thousand USD.

d.      The Audience Sympathy Prize will lead to the winner a diploma and a valuable prize from one of our major sponsors. This prize depends on the results of the audience voting only.

7.4 All of the rest of the members from the Competition will receive memorable diplomas.

8. Copyright issues

 

8.1 The selected songs may be made broadcast by the founders, through a recording, radio or TV broadcasting and/or through the Internet, public execution, or sold to the public as a phonogram of any type whatsoever.

8.2 The founders reserve the right to issue a disc, cassette, compact disc, video, DVD or similar promotional support with the pre-selected or selected themes.

8.3 The whole festival and the competition will be documented and all participants acknowledge and approve the usage of any such material by the production.

8.4                By their mere participation, the performers expressly authorize the Founders to broadcast by radio, TV, Internet or film their songs and performances, respectively, for the purposes the Founders deem appropriate in accordance with the Conditions of The International Song Festival of Eilat – SUNSUELA 2006.

           

9. POWERS AND DUTIES

 

 9.1      By their mere participation in the Festival, the performers and their companions imply their full acceptance of the decisions of the Founders and the Jury mentioned in the Conditions herein, with express waiver of each and every appeal that opposes them. Likewise, the performers and their companions imply their full acceptance of all features of the event, its structure and organization.

9.2 All decisions made by the Founders and relating to the organization and development of the festival events and those by the Juries mentioned in the Conditions herein, relating to the pre-selection, selection, presentation and election of the winner songs, and their resolutions, are final and not subject to any remedy or administrative claim whatsoever. Any doubt in connection with the enforcement or interpretation of these Conditions shall be settled by the Founders.

9.3 Claims filed by any person or organization regarding the originality and ownership of the songs in competition, or breach of the Conditions herein, shall be forwarded in writing to the Founders along with the documentary evidence that prove definitely the occurrence of an irregularity or plagiarism, giving the Founders up to fourteen (14) days before the Festival commences to make a decision.

9.4 By their mere participation, the performers and their companions expressly authorize the Founders to broadcast their songs and performances by radio, TV, Internet, and film, respectively, for promotional, commercial or other purposes.

9.5 The Founders reserve the right to suspend any performance or presentation that violates the Conditions herein. Likewise, this may modify the timeframes established in the Conditions herein.

9.6 All participants agree to arrive in Eilat on October, 2nd 2006 in order to perform rehearsals, public relations appearances etc.

9.7 All the performers will participate in the different activities that will take place during the full three days of the festival i.e. also during the day time and not only on the performance stage.

9.8 The production of the festival and competition does not take any responsibility for covering any of the flight expenses of the participant’s and\or their companions. Nevertheless, the accommodation, the catering (3 meals a day) and transfer expenses in Israel (as far as related to the festival) for 2 persons only (performer and 1 companion or two 2 performers (duet) will be covered in full by the production for a maximum of seven (7) days. Further, the production will give any necessary assistance in granting documents, mails, and in getting visas.

9.9 Each participant will bring along his playbacks only on a mini disc carrier in the abovementioned manner

 

10. MISCELLANEOUS:

10.1 The Founders shall be the only entity in charge of looking after the strict enforcement of the Conditions herein.

10.2 In case of any breach of the Conditions herein, the participants involved shall be obliged to reimburse the Founders the total expenses incurred as a result of their participation.

10.3 The founders preserve any right to alter and carry out changes relating to the production, the time tables, personnel, locations and so forth, at any time and from any reason which might arise.

10.4 The applicable law governing this document and\or any relations which might arise from it, is the Israeli law solely.
